The 5 Most Fuel-Efficient Full Size SUVs of 2014

Sometimes, a small car just won’t cut it. You need something larger that can haul a lot of stuff. For years, a lot of people have been put off by SUVs because of their high price tags and low gas mileage. Fortunately, times have changed. SUVs are more affordable and can go farther than ever. Here are the five most fuel-efficient full-size SUVs for 2014.

Buick Encore Crossover

Starting at about $25,000, the Crossover can achieve an impressive 25 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. The Encore is a beast of an SUV. It has a turbo charged 1.4-liter Ecotec four-cylinder engine and it can top out at 116 mph. The encore makes use of the Buick IntelliLink system, so you’ll be able to make cars or listen to music on your seven speaker Bose system as you travel to your next destination.

Nissan Juke

The Nissan Juke may be the most affordable SUV out there. The base model starts out at just a hair less than $20,000. The Juke features a turbocharged engine, and thanks to its unique design, it’s very easy to handle and is extremely responsive. The SV model gets 25 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. You can easily cram a whole family in and still have room to spare.

It has a 1.6-liter Direct Injection Gasoline turbo four-cylinder engine, so you’ll enjoy a better performance when compared to other SUVs. You’ll travel in comfort thanks to the premium cloth trim on the seats. If the weather gets a little nasty, you’ll feel safe behind the wheel of the Juke thanks to its stabilization system.

Subaru Forester

The Subaru Forester gets 24 mpg in the city, but once you hit the highway, you’re going to get about 32 mpg. At a base price of $22,000 for an automatic model, it’s extremely affordable. It’s outfitted with a convenient back-up camera, so you won’t have to worry about accidentally smashing into another car. You can outfit your new Forester with either cloth, leather, vinyl, or heated seats, and you’ll feel safe with the numerous air bags. If you’re looking for a base level SUV, look no further than the Subaru Forester.

Volkswagen Tiguan

The new Volkswagen Tiguan SUV gets 18 mpg in the city and 26 mpg in the highway. Though it’s not the best on this list, it makes up for it by being an affordable and reliable vehicle. Depending on the options you choose, it’ll run you about $23,000. The engine is turbocharged, so the Tiguan offers more power over similarly priced SUVs.

It’s also quite roomy; you’ll easily be able to seat five people. If you add all-wheel drive to this model, you can expect to get 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. Take it for a test drive. If it’s not your style, then check out other SUVs available at Paramount Motors.

Lexus RX Hybrid

This luxury midsize SUV is in its own class because it’s a hybrid. The Lexus RX 450h gets an impressive 32 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway (front-wheel drive), and 30 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway (all-wheel drive). It’s powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine. It has support for smartphone apps, so if you have the latest iPhone update, you’ll be able to use a whole host of options. This is truly the best option on the list thanks to it being a hybrid, but it’s not for everyone — the price starts at $40,000.

There are quite a few fuel-efficient SUVs on the market. No matter how deep your pockets stretch, you’ll have no problem finding one that fits your budget and needs. So, which one will you go with? Do you already have one?

I WROTE YOU A VERY DETAILED AND LONG COMMENT. I DO NOT KNOW IF YOU RECEIVED IT. I AM IN A DESPERATE SITUATION, WITHOUT A VEHICLE. I HAVE NOTHING COMING IN BUT $97.00 BECAUSE WHEN MY HUSBAND OF 2 YRS. FINALLY STARTED DRAWING HIS SOC. SECURITY CK. HE IS ON TOTAL DISABILITY. HE HAS MAJOR HEART DISEASE, HE’S HAD EMERGENCY HEART SURGERY, AND HE HAS DIABETES, COPD, AND HAS HAD MANY OTHER SURGERIES, INCLUDING KNEE, HIP, AND 2 MAJOR BACK SURGERIES. HE IS PLANNING ON LEAVING ME, EVEN THOUGH, WE HAVE ONLY BEEN MARRIED FOR 2 YRS. ON VALENTINE’S DAY. I DID NOT RE-MARRY UNTIL 24 YRS. AFTER MY DIVORCE. I CAN’T LIVE ON THIS AMT. I’M WORRIED, A LOT OF ANXIETY, AND I NEVER HAVE TO ASK OR BEG OR A VEHICLE, I’VE ALWAYS BEEN INDEPENDENT. I’VE BEEN BEAT DOWN, STOMPED ON, AND LIED ABOUT, AND MY HEART IS CRUSHED. MY DAUGHTER WILL NOT TALK TO ME, NOR WILL SHE LET MY ONLY 2 GRAND CHILDREN, DO SO. I CAN’T SEE THEM, BECAUSE SHE GOT MAD, AFTER OUR HOUSE FIRE, AND THE ONLY ONE IN THIS HOUSE, THAT MY BROTHER AND I WERE BORN AND RAISED IN. HE HAS SPINAL-BIFIDA, AND HEART DISEASE, KIDNEY DISEASE, STINTS, PACEMAKER, SEVERE CIRCULATIONS PROBLEMS, ALONG WITH LIMITED MOBILITY. ONLY WITH A WALKER, AND THEN NOT STEADY. MY DR. SAYS, I CANNOT LIFT LIKE THIS, I HAVE BEEN VERY SICK, MYSELF. I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY MY SSI CK. WAS TAKEN FROM ME, AND NOW, NOTHING. CRAIG, MY HUSBAND WILL BE RECEIVING $908. PLUS $94.00 FOR HELP WITH MEDS. I AM RECEIVING $97.00 A MONTH, AND I’M SCARED. I WAS IN AN ABUSIVE MARRIAGE, AND IT HAS LEFT ME SCARED,,, I HAVE SEVERE DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY, AND HAVE BEEN TREATED FOR IT FOR YRS. ALSO, I DIDN’T JUST SIT AROUND AND DO NOTHING, I WORKED FOR OVER 30 YRS. AND WAS A SINGLE PARENT FOR ABOUT 20 YRS. I AM IN PAIN, INWARDLY, AND OUTWARDLY. I, FIRST OF ALL, DIDN’T THINK MY MARRIAGE WOULD BREAK UP AFTER 2 YRS. ALSO, I TAKE IT VERY SERIOUSLY, AN DID NOT RE-MARRY FOR 24 YRS. I ALSO, AM WORRIED ABOUT THE FUTURE, BECAUSE OF CRAIG WANTING TO START RUNNING JUST A FEW MONTHS AFTER WE WERE MARRIED. I’VE BEEN SO ABUSED BY CHELSEA’S FATHER. HE WAS SO VERBALLY ABUSIVE, I HAVE MANY SCARS FROM THAT. HE WAS PHYSICALLY ABUSIVE, ALSO. I ALMOST WENT TO A SHELTER SEVERAL TIMES, BECAUSE HE STARTED IN ON MY BABY. THAT BROKE THE STRAW. I WILL TELL YOU MORE, IF YOU DID NOT RECEIVE MY FIRST COMMENT. BUT, I HAVE LINGERING PROBLEMS, FROM LIVING WITH HIM, BEING TREATED AND TALKED TO LIKE A DOG. I HAVE BEEN VERBALLY ABUSED BY MY PRESENT HUSBAND, EVEN THOUGH, HE DOESN’T THINK SO. WHEN YOU CALL YOUR WIFE, A F”” IN IDIOT, F-N STUPID, F ”N CRAZY, THEN NEVER SAYS ANYTHING POSITIVE ABOUT YOU, ALWAYS GRIPING ABOUT ME, AND ALWAYS NEGATIVE. IT IS TAKING ME BACK, AND I AM NOT HAPPY WITH IT. I DON’T WANT TO LIVE IN THE TORMENT I’VE DONE BEFORE. I AM A CHRISTIAN WOMAN, I WANTED TO DO IT GOD’S WAY, NO LIVING TOGETHER BEFORE MARRIAGE, NO SEX RELATIONSHIP BEFORE MARRIAGE, ETC. I THOUGHT WE WOULD BE BLESSED, BUT IT SEEMS LIKE, ALMOST AFTER ONCE WE SAID, I DO, IT HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE. WE’VE HAD A FEW GOOD TIMES, BUT HE JUST WANTS TO WALK OUT, ONE DAY I THINK IT’S OK, THE NEXT, IT’S NOT. I’M BEING TORMENTED BECAUSE NOW, MY CK. HAS BEEN TAKEN AWAY, HE WILL BE MOVING OUT, AND I HAVE NOTHING. I HAVE TO HAVE A VEHICLE, PREFERRED, SUV, FOR ROOM, AND I DO LIKE THEM. I’M A BIG PERSON AND SO IS MY BROTHER. I WOULD LOVE TO TALK WITH SOMEONE, AND NOW, SINCE, WE HAVE CRAIG’S DISABILITY COMING IN, THEN WE WANT QUALIFY FOR FOOD STAMPS ANYMORE. HE’LL BE GONE, I WANT HAVE ANY MONEY AND NO WAY TO GO. MY BROTHER, DAVID, AND I HAVE TO GO TO APPTS., EMERGENCIES, CHURCH, ET.C. MY PSYCHIATRIST SAID, BETH, IF YOU DON’T GET OUT OF THIS MARRIAGE, YOU ARE GOING TO DIE, IF YOU DO NOT HAVE MORE OF A STABLE HOME LIFE, YOU WILL DIE. I THOUGHT HE WAS JOKING, BUT HE WAS NOT. I’M TAKING IT SERIOUSLY, I TAKE MY MARRIAGE SERIOUSLY, BUT I AM BEING TORMENTED, AND MY INSECURITY DOESN’T HELP. CRAIG, DOES NOT HELP ME MUCH AT ALL. I THOUGHT HE WAS GOING TO GIVE ME THE LITTLE $94.00 A MO. HE GETS EXTRA, BECAUSE HE HAD SAID THIS, AND NOW HE’S RENIGGED ON THAT. I’M ALMOST BEGGING FOR HELP, I’M DESPERATE, I WORKED OVER 30 YRS, AND HAVE NOTHING BEING SINGLE AND A SINGLE PARENT FOR SO LONG. I AM NOT ABLE TO WORK, BUT I’M TRYING TO SEEK P/T POSSIBLY, BUT I HAVEN’T WORKED IN YRS., NOW. ALSO, I DO NOT WANT TO MESS UP MY SSI, BECAUSE AFTER HE LEAVES, VERY SOON, THEN I CAN’T LOSE MY INSURANCE, AND I’LL TRY AND GET MY CHECK BACK. I HAVE TO. OK, I WILL STOP FOR NOW, I HOPE YOU RECEIVE THIS, I CHECKED EVERYTHING, AND CHOSE AUTO, AND I DID NOT RECEIVE, A CFM THAT YOU RECEIVED IT. I PRAY THIS GOES IN, I PRAY THAT YOU OR SOMEONE CAN HELP ME, AND I APPRECIATE YOU READING AND HEARING A LITTLE ABOUT MY SITUATION. GOD BLESS YOU, AND IF I HAD THE MEANS, I WOULD BE HELPING OTHERS. THIS IS ONE OF MY GIFTS, AND I WANT TO FIND BETH AGAIN. BETH HARTFIELD-BLACHIER
