This Easter replace sugary treats with sweet Halos! Pop them in an Easter basket, your children will  have a sweet tooth for citrus! Along with Halos, here are some other healthier options to replace sugary candy in Easter baskets:

Chocolate covered fruit
You can make this on your own and are able to use the kind of fruit and chocolate your kid’s like. Chocolate dipped fruit uses less chocolate and more fruit. Find little cute themed Easter baggies to put them in as well.
Portion sized sweet treats
Instead of replacing all the chocolate and sugary treats, use portion control and and package a few chocolates at a time. Instead of throwing a few large sized chocolate bars in there a few squares of chocolate isn’t necessarily healthier but it’s better than a large amount of chocolate. You can do the same with other candies, like jelly beans, peanut butter eggs, etc.
Home made treats
Making homemade treats are healthier than store bought ones with all the additives and preservatives. You can make healthier versions of popular treats, like peanut butter eggs,  marshmallows, even fruit snacks. Making them homemade will take longer than a quick trip to the candy aisle, but it’ll be worth it knowing your kids teeth won’t rot and they won’t get a tummy ache.
You can get creative with them too, if it is one of your family’s traditions to color or dye eggs, use some washable markers and glitter glue and decorate the outside of the Halos. Design them like you would eggs, but a cute little chick face on it or a bunny face. To complete the cute little design add Easter themed stickers, or stick paper bunny ears in the top to make them even more cute!

When me and my kids dye eggs, one of my kids doesn’t like to eat the eggs afterwards, so he won’t feel left out, he can color and decorate a Halo, there is no doubt that he will eat a Halo! You can incorporate Halos in your whole day, use them for snacks and crafts and even for dinner. Check out this Mandarin and Chicken Quinoa Bowl recipe.
