Dinner and Board Games, Spending Quality Time

Often the days can run away from us very quickly before we even have time to do anything fun. I know the last couple of months I have been super busy and going through a lot. So it’s been tough to find one on one quality time to spend with my son.

Tonight while I cooked dinner my son asked me if we could play a board game. Normally that would be too difficult to do while making dinner because we have a small kitchen table and I utilize that while making dinner to put a lot of my food preps together as well as the kitchen counter. However, I found a game site where you can play literally a thousand or more different types of games with no downloads you just click and play within seconds.

Tonight for the first time in a while I was able to spend some quality time with my son while I cooked dinner. We had games on one counter and dinner on the other. But before I get into the games we played let me share this amazing dish I make. And that is Teriyaki Beef and Vegetable Stir Fry my family loves. It’s simple, quick, and healthy.

The ingredients needed for this recipe are pretty simple and easy to find in almost any grocery store. Here is what you will need:

  • Flat Iron Steak (cut into small strips)
  • 1 bottle of Teriyaki Stir Fry sauce
  • Oil – I used Olive oil to saute the steak and veggies.
  • 1 can of Pineapple Chunks
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
  • Red and Yellow Bell Peppers
  • Brocollie
  • Medium Onion
  • Sugar snap peas
  • 1 Carrot
  • 1 bunch of Green Onion

Start by sauteing up the steak on med-high heat until cooked through. Be sure to season with salt and pepper.

Next, remove the steak and set aside now add a little more oil only if needed and toss in the broccoli and carrots and saute for a couple of minutes tossing often.

Now add the rest of the vegetables and continue cooking for a few more minutes until everything is almost crunchy but also a little soft. But just before you get to that texture add in the canned pineapple and the juices, cooked steak, and Teriyaki sauce and continue to saute for about a minute. Now add the chopped green onion toss and you’re done. You can add this to rice or mix it with noodles. But we decided to have it just the way it is.

While dinner was cooking my son and I played some fun online games. I let him pick the first one and he chose Connect 4. I will say I love that this game was 2 players and we could play together just like having the real board game set up but without all the mess on such a busy night.

We played quite a few rounds of Connect 4: Competitive 2 Player Puzzle Strategy Board Game and he kicked my butt more than a few times. But he did let me keep playing until I won at least once.

I chose the next game which is called Chutes and Ladders: Online Multiplayer Snakes and Ladders Board Game. Now this game was so much fun. So many times I thought I was in the lead for sure. I was almost to the finish line a dozen times and those snakes got me every single time. We laughed so much playing this.

If you get a chance I highly recommend you check out plays.org. We really have so much fun with this game site especially when life gets busy. Now don’t get me wrong I love getting out the board games and sitting around the table for the night and playing some of our favorite games. But that’s not always an option when life gets busy. And this gave us that boost of fun and good laughs we both needed without having to worry about picking up all the board games as well as dinner clean up.
