It can be easy to keep the outside of your car clean. The smooth metals can be simple to clean with just some hot water, soap and a good scrubbing. However, the inside of the car can be difficult, with the different fabrics and such. Especially cloth fabric which kids can easily do a number on quickly, and the longer the stain sits depending on what it, it can be much harder to get out. Plus it can make your vehicle smell over time. Keep in mind it requires care when cleaning upholstery. There are a lot of products on the market that can put scratches on the surface of our seats and also leave the fabric feeling brittle. The safest way is to make your own simply cleaning mixture with safe cleaning products and soft brushes.
Use these DIY Cloth Upholstery Cleaning recipes below to clean up your next stain:
Easy Cloth Upholstery Cleaner:
- 2 Tbsp of a grated soap bar. I like to use Naptha or Ivory.
- 1 Tbsp Borax
- 6 drops of your favorite essential oil, but this is an optional step. It just leave a nice smell behind.
- 2 cups boiling water
Mix all ingredients together until the soap has melted. Use a firm but soft scrub brush to dip in the mixture and scrub any area on the cloth seats or carpet that has stains or needs a deep cleaning. Then use a clean rag to rinse and another to dry the area. Be sure to let the car seats and carpets completely dry and air out. This will later prevent mildew.
