Halloween Horror Nights 23: Watch Your Favorite Scary Movies Come To Life

Universal Orlando compensated my trip to Halloween Horror Nights 23 in exchange for my honest opinion. Regardless all views and opinions are 100% my own.

Teens love to have fun just like our younger children. However the hardest part is finding something teens will want to do with their mom and dad, especially in public. My youngest who is 8 is so easy to please. He loves going anywhere, and doing pretty much anything that’s fun. My oldest 2 children are 16 and 20. They never want to do anything with me or my husband, and would rather hang out with their friends, play video games or be on the computer. Typical teenagers. Sound like your house? Well not for long, because I found something my teen daughter was ecstatic to do with me!! She is a huge scary movie fan, so I took her to Halloween Horror Night 23 at Universal Orlando. Which is perfect for older teens like my 16 year old teen daughter who is into stuff like this.

Universal Orlando Halloween Horror Nights is a yearly tradition that happens around Halloween that started in 1991. This event starts at night and features haunted houses that are themed on your favorite scary movies. Along with haunted houses it also includes ‘scare zones’ that are throughout the park that will keep you on your toes. As well as live entertainment based on your favorite Universal movies.

Halloween Horror Nights

This year which is Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights 23 feature haunted houses such as: The Cabin In The Woods, Evil Dead, Resident Evil: Escape From Raccoon City, The Walking Dead, An American Werewolf In London, La Llorona, Havoc: Derailed and After Life: Death’s Vengeance.  Live entertainment included: Bill & Ted’s Excellent Halloween Adventure and Rocky Horror Picture Show Tribute. The ‘scare zone’ street events this year features the Walking Dead.

This was me and my daughter’s first time going to Halloween Horror Nights. I wasn’t really sure what to expect except to be scared. The lines were long but moved very quickly. Once we got passed the gates the terror began. There was an eery fog that filled the streets of the park and zombies lurking were you least expected them.

We were able to make it through most of the haunted houses, but one and that was La Llorna. Each haunted house was as scary as the first. As we entered each haunted house we could feel our hearts pounding, filled with excitement, and fear of whats to come. The special effects, props, makeup and costumes looked so real I had to make a double take at everything to make sure it wasn’t, but it still looked, and felt realistic. The haunted houses were filled with screams of terror from me and my daughter as well as other people. We spent our night huddled together screaming and laughing.

In between going to the haunted houses we made our way to the live shows, were we saw Bill & Ted’s Excellent Halloween Adventure and Rocky Horror Picture Show Tribute.

Halloween Horror Nights

The Rocky Horror Picture Show Tribute was a live shorter version of the original movie. It features actors that looked just like the characters in the movie. Each actor nailed the characters personality perfectly. The signing was wonderful, and I loved how the  audience knew the words sang along.

We were not aloud to take picture of Bill & Ted’s Excellent Halloween Adventure. However the show was great. It was very funny, they had actors who played famous celebrities with obvious, stereo typical personalities.

As we made our way through the park we came across some of the most unforgettable scenes from The Walking Dead that were pretty awesome and gruesome looking.

We had such a great time making our way through the streets and dodging zombies. We ate some great food too! We stopped off at a small food cart and grabbed some tasty buffalo chicken strips and fried sweet potato chips. Boy was that good, and it sure hit the spot after a few hours of walking, and being scared out of our wits.

Then we stopped off at one of my most favorite stores at Universal called the Candy Factory. I love coming to this store every time we visit. They have some of the most wonderful treats I have ever tasted. I highly recommend you try the Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cupcake.  It’s huge, and so delightful, and perfect size to share. We ended up getting 2 huge cookies this trip.

My daughter said she had an amazing time, and this is one night she will never forget. It makes me so happy to hear her say that. I would have to say I feel the same way. This truly was one of the most funnest nights I have ever had! It’s sad to think I will be leaving Florida in just a couple of months, because this would have made for a great yearly tradition.
