The importance of hair removal is indisputable. Many promising romantic encounters have failed just because somebody neglected it. Epilating has a distinct advantage over waxing, shaving and hair removal cream.
Why?
Waxing is a complicated process and can be a bit expensive. It is also more painful, especially if done in a sensitive area. It has an advantage in that it is faster as hair removal methods go, and hair takes longer to regrow.
Shaving is quick, easy, cheap and pain-free. This is why it is the most common method of hair removal, but not the best one. Why? Hair grows back very fast. If you shave in the morning, your face won’t be smooth and silky in the evening. You know this, as do most of us. Hair also gets thicker and denser if shaving is your main process of hair removal. This is also the case with hair removal cream, which bears the additional disadvantage of causing redness and skin irritation. Plus, it can be awkward to stand around naked for ten minutes waiting for the cream to take effect.
Epilators are relatively easy to use. All you have to do is plug it in or switch it on (most models work on batteries too, i.e. cordless) and press it down on the area where you want to remove the hair. It works with tweezers, pulling the hair from the root, so it will take longer to grow back, whereas blades just remove the hair from the surface of the skin. This is why it grows back so fast.
Most epilators are equipped with safety features like if your mind wanders and you press it down too hard on the skin, it won’t pinch or damage your skin because the tweezers will stop rotating.
If you epilate, the hair will not grow back denser and thicker. In some cases it may even start growing thinner and more brittle with time, making it easier to remove.
How to choose an epilator model?
We recommend the Remington Smooth and Silky Full Size Epilator (EP6010). It works on all body parts and types of hair, and is reasonably-priced. Its curved head provides greater comfort and coverage. Its 40+ tweezers are very efficient in pulling the hair out.
Other advantages include a long cord and state-of-the-art design adapted to the contours of the body. It’s also easy to use and clean. If this is your first time epilating, we advise showering and exfoliating first. This epilator is also lightweight, and hair may take up to 6 weeks to regrow. It can be used on wet or dry skin.
This epilator is a great option, but it isn’t the only factor. Skin sensitivity and pain threshold are also important considerations. To avoid excruciating pain, don’t let your hair grow back too long. It works best on hair that is under 1 cm long (optimally half a cm) as with most other epilator models. Actually, the Remington Smooth and Silky is effective on really short hair.
